Athenian Brewery emphatically denies the allegations of the investigation and finds them difficult to perceive, given that:
All of the above information demonstrates in the best possible way the healthy development of the market.
With four plants – in Athens, Thessaloniki, Patra and Lamia- and 1.000 employees Athenian Brewery has been manufacturing, investing and providing beer and beer products in the Greek market for 50 years. Through a contract farming program, Athenian Brewery partners with 3.000 Greek barley farmers thus creating added value and jobs in the agricultural sector. With 4.350 Greek supply companies, over 90% of the cost and production expenditures remain in Greece. More than 28.000 jobs have been generated either directly or indirectly from the brewery’s activities which corresponds to 0,7% of the total employment. For years the company has been driven towards on the development of its export sector which has a turnover of around €20 million. The company’s investment plan remains stable with a plan for €18 million in 2014 and €50 million in the next three years.
Athenian brewery will thoroughly examine all allegations contained in the Commission’s recommendation, considering, though that the findings do not properly assess the company’s policy and objectives that were followed in previous years.
In any case, we look forward with confidence, to the next stages of the procedure and we are convinced that eventually the company’s image, as well as, market development will be restored.
