2012 was a very important year for the history of Corfu Microbrewery. The Koroibos, has been chosen as the official beer of the Olympic Games of London. The collaboration of Corfu Microbrewery, with their brewer Mr Claudios Mouzakitis and the British brewery, Everads is continuing. So, a year later our Claudio’s is brewing once again, on behalf of Corfu Microbrewery at Leicester’s brewery. This time it was turn for a “dark beer closer to the British tastes, which would easily be loved from the Greek audience as well”, as he told us in our recent visit to Corfu, where we got informed from firsthand about this new activity.
The beer was sent to the most popular Festival, International Real Ale Festival, which is organized by the chain pubs of Britain, Wetherspoon’s. The organizers chosen Corfu Microbrewery as one of the 8 breweries globally, that will be hosted and offer their beer to thousands of visitors, starting today and until 21st of April!
For more than two weeks, the Ionian Coffee Porter of Corfu Microbrewery, with the Greek flag on its label, will be served in more than 900 spots of the Wetherspoon chain around Britain. If that is not an honor for our country, then it certainly is another distinction for Corfu Microbrewery and the good job that there are doing.
As we are informed by the organizers and Corfu Microbrewery, we are talking about a beer that is using Chinook and Styrian Dana hops. The beer has 4,5% abv and it has flavours of coffee, fruit and some aromas that referring to pine. It has a distinctive taste with, chocolate character and roast coffee. Offer’s a balanced taste between sweet, sour, spicy that and a citrus finish. Match perfectly with chocolate desserts and BBQ meets, according to the menu of Wetherspoon’s
We wish to taste it soon. Cheers to the Lucky ones!
