The idea behind the “Maison Amical” is not particularly new, my experiments started at the beginning of autumn. My visit in the vineyards of METAXA in Samos, combined with the beer seminars I was attending at that time, got me thinking and I decided to experiment with a new product for me, beer. It took many trials and many beers until I decided to use Guinness. The reasonI decided to use the particular beer is because I wanted to present the aromas of vanilla, chocolate, coffee, cocoa and most of all hops, in my cocktail, without having a high percentages of alcohol. I was hoping they would blend with the other ingredients of the recipe. The experiment was a success. You will find the cool and tasty cocktail in the new seasonal catalog (May- September) at Spiti Cocktail Bar in Chalandri
Note1: I preferred to use Metaxa 5 instead of 7 stars because I wanted a less intense alcoholic base for my cocktail which I couldn’t find in the rest of my ingredients.
Note 2: I garnish with a slice of pear. The cocktail doesn’t contain pear but the combination of the tastes and the aromas and the ingredients, makes the perfect food pairing with the pear and it’s a small surprise in the mouth.
