According to the British newspaper “The Metro”, the price of each glass of beer, meant pint, will increase by 6p, which do not include VAT. Reactions have caused this decision, which would begin in mid-January. Such an evolution is a decision by companies such as Carlsberg (which also owns brands like Tuborg and Tetley) and Molson Coors (in their portfolio belong Coors Light, Carling and Cobra), whose beers are very popular in British Pubs
A representative of Carlsberg UK, said that they have informed their partners (Pubs) that this appreciation has begun from 6th of January and will reach up to 6p per glass, without VAT. The increase is something that would hardly be undesirable because of the high production costs, energy and fuels that company’s need to addressee.
The problem, however, focuses on comfort that pubs don’t have in order to raise their prices as well because this will reduce their clientele. Already, according to the agency “The Campaign for Real Ale”, 18 pubs are closing each week in the United Kingdom
