Who claimed that beer can’t be used in cocktails? If you know anyone, let him know that he is wrong. There are plenty beer-cocktails, simple or more complex ones.
During 2011, along with the staff of Deustche Ecke in the area of Zografou, Athens, we planned a cocktail party. We are trying to be unique and offer something different that was missing of this area. We felt that we were making a step forward, by presenting a beer-cocktail!
The exact same cocktail, which I present a few months later at the 2012 HoReCa Exhibition. The feedback of the people that tasted it was positive and raised my confidence. It was the first time that I presented my job during an exhibition. Until then I used to present them in my work places or during my seminars.
But I think I said t0o much. The cocktail I am talking about is the Stout XO.
What is Stout XO?
It’s a cocktail made of Scotch Whiskey, Tequila Patron XO Caffe, Stout beer and Chocolate Bitters. For the party we used Whyte & Mackay, draught Guinness and Chocolate Bitters from “The Bitter Truth”.
We used an old fashion glass, garnished with an orange peel and 2-3 coffee beans. If you like to have more beer in you drink add more beer in it and use a double old fashioned glass or a Pint of Guinness..!!
The aromas that occur from the flavors of coffee, caramel, dark chocolate and cinnamon are the result of the combination of those ingredients. This cocktail offers a rich and sweet flavor, which can be experienced by everybody any time of the day.
An eXtraOrdinary cocktail, with Stout beer, which can be called just: Stout XO.
